ABOUT ME

Hello everyone.  My name is Gia.

In 1996, I was introduced to my first portable sawmill.  It was being introduced by Bailey's and was called the Lucas Mill.  A wonderful man by the name of Neil Westbrook taught me how to operate it.

This mill was the beginning of a passion that goes very deep and continues to drive my inner soul.  From that point I learned all I could from my dad, who by the way bought that first mill for me, and other high end builders about reading logs & what high end, vertical grain clear lumber looks like.

I soon learned about old growth redwood that was left on the forest floor and also what real treasures they really were.  I did many portable jobs and ended up on one job for over a year.  This job lead me to buy my second mill, the Mobile Dimension.  I had this mill built so it would handle 8’ diameter logs and 25’ in length.  This job also introduced me to large redwood stumps and what true beauty was inside them.   My next job was also a year long.  This job had me milling around 50,000 feet of old growth redwood logs on a 1200 acre ranch.  Once I finished with that project, I moved my Mobile Dimension Mill home for the very first time and there it has remained.   I have kept my operation at home on my 5 acres over the years and have stayed quite busy.

In June of 2008, I bought my third mill, The Linn Lumber Mill.   This  mill is a band mill that enables me to mill 48” x 48” x  50’ timber.  I recently finished a project which, with the help of others, produced 8 x 8 x 38’, 8 x 18 x 38 to 49.5’, and 10 x 20 x 45’, all free of heart center (FHC).  This is a whole new way to produce wood for me and this first job went extremely well considering it was the mills’ and mine maiden voyage together.

In February 2009, I took delivery of my fourth mill, the Baker Blue Streak.  This mill will enable me to go do onsite jobs as well as doing resawing for clients.   This mill will cut 24 feet long.

I have always believed in recycling things and what better way than to recycle pieces of wood that were harvested in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and left on the forest floor.
